Did you happen to notice more bicyclists on the road yesterday?  I hope so, because it was national Bike to Work Day.  I was one of many commuters across Annapolis yesterday who left their cars at home and bicycled to work.  

We did it!! Monday night the City Council passed the "no net loss of trees" ordinance! Thank you, everyone, who came out last night! We were able to head off any effort to delay and secured the necessary votes for passage.  Our current Alderman, Ian Pfeiffer, supported this bill and his vote last night was crucial to ensuring its success.  Please take a moment to email or call Alderman Pfeiffer and thank him for his support.

Your attendance is needed at Monday night's City Council meeting. We are on the verge of strengthening our forest laws (and protecting your quality of life) by instituting a "no net loss of forest" policy. But developers are making a last-ditch attempt to sabotage this ordinance, and the Council needs to hear from you.

Thank you to everyone who turned out for the kick-off of Rob's campaign for City Council! The event was an enormous success with over 50 neighbors, friends, fellow community activists, and a few current and former elected officials who all showed up to give Rob a strong start.

A bomb threat has been delivered to the Aleph Bet Jewish Day School in Annapolis. This type of hateful act is not welcome in Annapolis. Stand up against hate! Let's build a welcoming, positive community together. 

Here's the speech I gave at CBF's "save the forests" rally this past week. It was in support of a bill that would institute a "no net loss" policy for our Maryland forests. "Put the conservation back into the Forest Conservation Act!"

Annapolis is located on the northern end of the Taylorsville gas basin, so we are not immune to the threat fracking poses to our environment and our health.

I testified on at the Maryland State House last week about improving the Forest Conservation Act for the State of Maryland.  The state law is a slimmed-down version of what we are trying to pass locally. Forests = clean water, clean air, and livable communities.
